バーブーメラン Barboomerang

＜２つの曲面空間＞

建物の１階、間口3.3m奥行き9.3mのスペースに、気軽に入れるバーカウンターと落着いた雰囲気を備えたVIPルーム、その内装と外装デザインが求められた。特性の異なる２つの空間からなる1つのバー、その異質性と同一性をまとめるポイントとして「ブーメラン」から連想した曲面デザインを用いることにした。

バーカウンターは水平的な広がりにブーメラン形状を生かし、ハイカウンター・ハイチェアとすることで重心が高くなり、空間に軽やかさが生まれる。カウンター形状に呼応して周囲の壁と棚も角を曲面化することで視覚的広がりの効果をねらった。
他方、小スペースのVIPルームは奥行きへ向かって天井から床へと垂直方向に連なる曲面状の壁を用いることで、空間の視覚的な重心を低くし、更にローテーブル・ローチェアの配置によって、より落着いた雰囲気づくりを心がけた。

外装デザインは、内と外の視線を繋ぐための細いスリット開口を取り付け、また、内部の雰囲気を外へと伝えるためのサインとして、内装と同じ曲面状の壁を外装にも用いている。

２つの空間の共通の諸要素を対称的にデザインすることで、それぞれの空間的ポテンシャルの質の違いを引き出しつつ、バー全体としてのまとまりが生まれることを意図した。

< two curved spaces>

On the first floor of the building, with a frontage of 3.3 meters and a depth of 9.3 meters, a VIP room with a bar counter and a relaxed atmosphere was required, as well as its interior and exterior design. I decided to use a curved design reminiscent of “Boomerang” as a point to bring together the heterogeneity and identity of a single bar consisting of two spaces with different characteristics.

The bar counter takes advantage of the boomerang shape in the horizontal spread, and the center of gravity is raised by using a high counter and high chair, creating a lightness in the space. In response to the shape of the counter, the surrounding walls and shelves were also curved at the corners to create a visual expansion effect.
On the other hand, the VIP room, which is a small space, uses curved walls that run vertically from the ceiling to the floor toward the depth, lowering the visual center of gravity of the space, and the arrangement of low tables and low chairs to create a more relaxed atmosphere.

The exterior design features a narrow slit opening to connect the line of sight between the inside and outside, and the same curved walls as the interior are used for the exterior as a sign to convey the atmosphere of the interior to the outside.

By symmetrically designing the common elements of the two spaces, we intended to bring out the difference in the quality of the spatial potential of each and create a cohesive bar as a whole.
